Program Description

Event Details

The library is hosting a book talk by local author Barbara Renner
Woman in blue shirt

Barbara Renner discovered a new chapter in her creative life after retiring from teaching in 2011—writing children’s picture books. Inspired by time spent outdoors, her stories feature wildlife main characters, authentic bird calls, and fascinating nature facts that invite young readers to listen, learn, and wonder. She has also written heartwarming picture books with stories about grandparents and their grandchildren. Three of these books are available for checkout in the children’s section of the R.H. Johnson Library.

The library also carries Barbara’s award-winning coffee table and gift book, Larry’s Words of Wisdom. This delightful photo book stars her dog, Larry, pairing charming photographs with inspirational quotes written from a dog’s point of view—a favorite among readers of all ages.

Barbara and her husband have called the Phoenix area home for more than 50 years, where they raised their son and daughter. When she’s not out walking Larry, Barbara enjoys traveling, reading, gardening, volunteering at the library, and writing articles for magazines and newsletters.

Where does Barbara find the inspiration for her books? Join her for a Local Author Book Talk at the library to find out. Expect stories, insights, and a fun, engaging morning.
