Mr. Joustra is a distinguished veteran, writer, and policy expert whose life has been defined by service, sacrifice, and commitment to safeguarding America’s national security. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1977, he began his professional career with the United States Army. He went on to serve more than two decades in the nation’s most elite units. Following his military service, Mr. Joustra continued to shape U.S. foreign and domestic policy as a consultant with the Department of State and later with the Department of Homeland Security.

Today, Mr. Joustra brings his unique perspective to readers through his writing. His autobiography shares the story of a life lived in service to the nation; one defined not only by high-stakes operations and secrecy but also by the personal sacrifices required to uphold that responsibility. His message to readers is clear and enduring: Never give up on your dreams.
