Music Education - 50s Rock: Elvis to Chuck Berry and Beyond
Come participate in the library’s music appreciation and education in the library. On Thursday, January 15th at 1:30 p.m. in the main room of the library we will have local musician Cameron Craig speaking in the first of a 3 part series on the musical era of 1950s Rock: Elvis to Chuck Berry and Beyond. He’ll share his insights into the musical styles and influences of the era and the role that the music played in American culture. Following his presentation, Cameron will play some of the music from that era.
Cameron has played rock and blues guitar for 30 years, playing in at least 6 bands. He has taught in the public school system as well as giving individual lessons. Cameron has served as both president and vice president of the SCW Music Club, since relocating to SCW. He grew up with the Beatles and Rolling Stones, but now plays in the Albert King, Buddy Guy and Eric Clapton blues styles. He knows most rock, blues, folk and jazz styles with some knowledge of country and classical.
