Have you wanted to write down parts of your past but don’t know how to start?
Do you find yourself thinking about certain places, people and events in your life and wish to write down the stories that accompany those memories before they are forgotten?
Come along and join us for a Writers Workshop mini-course that will guide you through the process that will help you begin writing down those memories. This workshop is geared for those who have wished to write down memories from their past in short and simple writing forms. We are all writers and use these skills every day without even realizing it!
The class, led by Margie, a Sun City West resident and former teacher, will explain the Memoir genre and the role it plays in literature. It will define what Memoir is and what it isn’t. Guided instructions will take you from tips on how to get started organizing and retrieving those memories, to how to transfer those memories easily to paper.
The Writers Workshop: Memoir will run six consecutive Tuesdays from September 9th through October 14th. The workshop is in the R. H. Johnson Library from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Participants will be contacted by the facilitator prior to the first meeting. Suggested materials will be discussed on the first day.
